We were advised that some people are altering or removing the pull-out segment guard to run open window envelopes.
The pull-out segment guard must never be removed or altered under any circumstances. Several years ago, FLS sent out replacement refeeder guards for RA Serial #1 thru #3206 with instructions on how to install. This guard has a double lip to accommodate the new-style unhooking device which should be used for running open windows that are close to the leading edge.
If you do not have RA-70879 pull-out segment guard permanently mounted on your RA equipment, please make sure this is done immediately.
Operating the RA machine with an altered guard or no guard in place could result in serious injury.
