F.L. Smithe Safety Updates
Our previous Newsletters in January of 1976 and in May of 1992 were devoted to safety. We are once again devoting this issue of the Newsletter/Safety Bulletin to safety as part of our ongoing program of updating older machines and insuring that the operators and adjusters of all our equipment are protected. It has always been the goal of the F. L. Smithe Machine Company to manufacture a product that is safe. We are providing this current information on guards and other mechanical safety devices so that you can assist us with updating your equipment to further protect your personnel. We strongly urge all users of the equipment to carefully review the items offered in this Newsletter/Safety Bulletin. If you have any of this equipment, these guards and safety devices should be installed to avoid any potential for injury. We also need your cooperation in making sure that the equipment is maintained and operated safety. As equipment is transferred from one manufacturer to another, guards and other safe devices may be removed or lost. It is difficult, if not impossible, for us to ascertain the location of all our equipment to make sure all guards and other safety devices that were originally on the machines are on them now. We therefore need your assistance in determining if any guards are missing. Guards must be properly installed and utilized wherever possible. If there is any doubt, please contact our parts department who will be more than happy to provide the part number of any particular guard that you feel might be missing. As always, please contact us at any time by phone or E-Mail should any questions arise.
